Start the tour at the source of the Nahe in Selbach. The journey leads along Lake Bostal via Nohfelden - a short detour to the castle is nice break here – and on to the state border Saarland / Rhineland-Palatinate.  Passing the environmental campus in Hoppstädten-Weiersbach we travel to Birkenfeld. If you prefer a more leisurely trip, you can spend the night here. A visit to the Birkenfeld State Museum is recommended. On the following day, the route continues through hilly terrain via Kronweiler to the Nahe banks and finally further upstream along the Nahe. The Frauenburg Castle, where Countess Loretta once lived, is interesting to see. It is now only a few kilometres to Idar-Oberstein.
